Lunch Stop – Baniyas Lulu Hypermarket
Stopped here for an hour for lunch break. I got a mini pizza, lassi and some mixed nuts.
We used a huge shopping mall containing a Lulu supermarket. This chain is like Tescos and all over Arabia
Baniyas is an urban community in Abu Dhabi located along the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain highway towards the south of Abu Dhabi. The neighbourhood is categorised into two sub-communities – Baniyas West and Baniyas East. It is surrounded by popular communities such as Al Mafraq, Shakhbout City, Al Wathba, Al Shawamekh, Al Shamkha and Mohammed Bin Zayed City.
The area is developed by Baniyas Investment & Development Company (BIDC). The focus of BIDC was to help the area develop into a modern community while maintaining the emirate’s rich cultural heritage. The capital city witnessed tremendous development in recent times including many high-rise buildings with modern apartments to add to the residential side. Baniyas is known for housing the Baniyas Sports and Culture Club, a sports complex that also hosts the Baniyas football team.
As a residential community, Baniyas Abu Dhabi is well-developed. It is comprised of residential apartments, sports facilities and supermarkets. As per Bayut’s 2019 Market Report for Abu Dhabi, Baniyas is a popular area to buy apartments in the capital ranking among the popular waterfront destinations including Saadiyat Island, Al Raha Beach and Al Maryah Island.
Quita a long way away from my Lawrence of Arabia based fantasies of the Middle East.
