Arrive back in the afternoon to find that our tents are set up for us. The team who did this also drove us around the Ngorongoro crater and the Serengeti took down our tents in the Serengeti campsite and set up at Snake Farm..

A geezer I met in Ngorongoro Crater

We had a leisurely meal at Snake Farm and some of the younger ones stayed up to drink a bit but myself and a few of the older ones slipped off to bed early. I am probably fast asleep at 9:30 in the evening.

I wake next morning at 6:00 and feel full of beans. I sort out my tent and pack away stuff to put back in the truck. I take my tent down and put it away

We have breakfast at 8:15 but I had already eaten earlier. I go down to a women’s village where they sell locally made handicraft and buy a African mask I really like. I think when I bring that back home to Dublin and put it on my wall, every time I see it, it will remind me of being in East Africa and having some very slight contact with the Masai people.

I get back on the truck again but this time very gingerly because of my fall a few days ago. My joints ache because I tried to stop myself by hanging onto a rail while holding a heavy bag in my opposite hand. I think this put a strain on my shoulders and my back so I feel quite achy today

The engine shudders and burbles into being and we are on our way to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro
