Sunrise at the Sand Dunes
The alarm went off at 4:45am this morning, immediately followed by the thought “are you feckin’ mad, getting up at this unearthly hour?” But get up I do, pack away my tent and away we are on the truck at 5:25am to climb a 450 metre high sand dune to watch the rising sun.

“I hope its worth it,” I think to myself and worth it indeed it is.
We clamber up the ridge of the red sand dune, step by slippery step; 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I make it up the first half where the walk joins another one at an angle. I get up about about a third of this dune when my dodgy knee starts to give way. I sit down and enjoy the sight.
The journey down is a doddle.
